The Enerdrive ePOWER DC2DC+ Battery Charger is a highly advanced, fully automatic multistage charger. It charges your house battery bank from either your vehicle’s alternator or solar power, thanks to the built-in Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) Solar Controller. The unit seamlessly selects the charging source, with no need for external relays.
During its operation, the ePOWER DC2DC+ takes your house battery through a complete charge cycle, supporting various battery types, including GEL, AGM, Flooded, Custom Programmable, or Lithium. Once the battery reaches the float stage, the charger transforms into a power supply mode to sustain onboard DC loads.
Multistage Charging Process:
The ePOWER DC2DC+ employs a set-and-forget approach, utilizing charger algorithms that maximize the lifespan of deep cycle batteries. It provides a multistage charging sequence recommended by battery manufacturers, ensuring swift and precise charging. The charger consists of three primary charge stages:
- Bulk or Boost Charge: Charges at full output current until the battery reaches its absorption voltage, rapidly recovering around 80% of the battery’s capacity.
- Absorption Charge: Maintains a steady charger voltage while replacing the remaining 20%, allowing the current to taper off as the battery nears full charge.
- Float: The charger voltage is lowered and held at a constant and safe level to prevent overcharging. It compensates for self-discharge and supports additional loads connected to the battery.
Smart Charging Feature:
The ePOWER DC2DC+ adapts its output based on the loads connected to your battery bank, preventing overcharging. It features two load-based regulation methods, ensuring a smooth transition to float mode when necessary, preserving the battery bank’s longevity.
