Advanced Technology for the IoT Era
The BMV Smart is equipped with built-in Bluetooth, making it fully ready for the Internet of Things (IoT). This feature allows seamless wireless communication with other Victron Energy products, streamlining system setup and optimizing performance.
Easy Installation
The BMV Smart is designed for straightforward installation:
– All electrical connections are made to the quick-connect PCB on the current shunt.
– The monitor connects via a standard RJ12 telephone cable.
– Included components:
– RJ12 cable (10 m)
– Battery cable with fuse (2 m)
– Front bezel (square or round display options)
– Securing ring for rear mounting
– Screws for front mounting
No additional parts are required, making installation quick and hassle-free.
Midpoint Voltage Monitoring
Protect your battery bank from potential damage caused by a single bad cell or battery. When batteries are connected in series, the BMV Smart measures midpoint voltage to provide timely warnings of potential issues. For enhanced service life of series-connected lead-acid batteries, we recommend using the Victron Battery Balancer (BMS012201000). See section 5.2 of the BMV manual for further details.
Very Low Current Draw from the Battery:
The system is designed to minimize current consumption, ensuring longer battery life and reduced risk of damage. It draws only 0.7Ah per month (1mA) at 12V and 0.6Ah per month (0.8mA) at 24V.
For Li-ion batteries, once they enter low voltage shutdown, their remaining capacity is approximately 1Ah per 100Ah of battery capacity. Drawing from this reserve can cause permanent damage to the battery. For instance, a residual current of 10mA could deplete a 200Ah battery within 8 days, potentially leading to irreversible harm if left in a discharged state.
Bi-stable Alarm Relay:
This feature prevents increased current consumption during an alarm state, maintaining efficiency and protecting the battery.
